King Kosoko: Teqsus Studios Offers Buy-One-Get-One-Free Tickets on Independence Day

Teqsus Studios has announced a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer for its historical epic, : The Battle For Lagos, giving Nigerians an opportunity to watch the film at a reduced cost as the country celebrates .

The studio said the promotion will be available for all showings of the film on Thursday, October 1, in celebration of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

Directed by Adebayo Tijani, the historical drama stars Femi Adebayo as Oba Kosoko and has reportedly grossed more than ₦65 million at the Nigerian box office since its release on August 28 through FilmOne Entertainment.

King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos tells the story of Oba Kosoko’s resistance to British imperial power and his efforts to defend the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Lagos. The conflict eventually led to the bombardment of Lagos in 1851, an event remembered as the Salt Water War, or Ogun Olomiro.

The movie was produced by Ayo Ajayi and Segun Olojo-Kosoko, a Lagos prince and seventh-generation descendant of Oba Kosoko. Ajayi also serves as executive producer.

Speaking about the Independence Day promotion, Ajayi said the initiative was designed to connect Nigeria’s national celebration with the historical story portrayed in the film.

“Independence Day is exactly what this film is about, a people determined to govern themselves,” Ajayi said.

“There is no better day for Nigerians to see the story of a king who refused to surrender his kingdom’s sovereignty,” he added.

According to the producer, the offer is also an invitation for Nigerians to mark the national holiday by experiencing a story rooted in the history, identity and struggle of Lagos.

The film features an ensemble cast including Odunlade Adekola, Prince Jide Kosoko, Fathia Balogun, Gabriel Afolayan, Femi Branch, Tina Mba, Yinka Quadri, Dele Odule, Aishat Lawal, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Niyi Johnson and Sola Kosoko.

King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos is presented in Yoruba with English subtitles.

The Independence Day offer is available at participating cinemas, including all Filmhouse Cinemas, Silverbird SEC, Silverbird Galleria, Silverbird Kaduna (ticket only), as well as selected independent cinemas nationwide.

With its Independence Day promotion coming as the film continues its cinema run, King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos is giving audiences another reason to experience a historical story centred on sovereignty, resistance and the history of Lagos on the big screen.
