Davido Is Nigeria’s Most Influential Person Under 40, Says Asa Asika

Talent manager has described Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as , as the most influential Nigerian under the age of 40.

Asika made the claim during a recent episode of The Manager’s Playbook podcast, hosted by Mauricio Ruiz, while discussing Davido’s career, reach and influence within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

According to the talent manager, social media following remains one of the clearest measures of public influence today, and Davido stands out as one of the most followed Nigerian personalities across major platforms.

“Davido is probably the most influential person from Nigeria under 40, in my opinion. Some people will argue about other things, but let’s use the most popular metric today, which is social media. Davido is the most-followed [Nigerian] artist on almost every platform,” Asika said.

Asika also revealed that he sometimes jokes with Davido about the singer’s level of influence, comparing his reach to that of Nigeria’s president.

“I say to him all the time, ‘You do know you’re kinda like the President of Nigeria?’” he said.

Beyond his social media presence, Asika pointed to Davido’s ability to remain commercially relevant despite the controversies and challenges he has faced throughout his career.

He argued that some of the situations Davido has survived could have seriously damaged the careers of other entertainers, yet the singer has continued to attract audiences, major brands and commercial opportunities.

“Some of the things that I have seen Davido do, if someone else did that, they would never ever get back from it,” Asika added.

The manager further described Davido as a “walking billboard,” saying his commercial appeal has made him highly attractive to brands and contributed significantly to the singer’s business opportunities.

“Davido is a walking billboard. Every brand wants to associate with him. We haven’t paid for a music video with our own money in ages,” he said.

Asika’s comments have once again highlighted the scale of Davido’s influence beyond music, particularly his ability to command attention across social media, entertainment and brand partnerships. While the claim remains his personal assessment, it underlines the position Davido has built as one of Nigeria’s most recognisable global entertainers.
